                                                                                        A celebration of women in Volunteering, Science & Entrepreneurship

                                                                                        2011 is the centenary of International Women's Day

 

Diaspora Volunteering Alliance (DVA) and BritBangla are holding a special event as part of this landmark year.

The event will celebrate the role women have taken in the realm of volunteering, entrepreneurship and science.

The evening will be hosted by Aysha Iqbal, BBC Broadcast Journalist with key speaker Lynne Berry OBE, CEO of WVRS who received an honorary Doctor of Health Science Award last year for her inspiring work within the Third Sector and other notable speakers from BRAC Development Institute, SACOMA, Univerity of East London and the Science Council.

We will share stories of success from women in the three sectors and share with you their inspiration and passion.

Inspirational speakers: Dr Priti Parikh, a Research Associate at the Business School of Imperial College on the Energy for Development Project and Dr Lena Ciric, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College London, who specialises in Mircrobiology, will be sharing their stories about how they achieved their professional success.

Activities will include: Networking oportunites, drinks and canapes, Indian head massage & henna art. The evening will end with a musical performance by the violinist Mansoon Bow, a Japan- born musician who studied the violin at the age of three and received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music (London).

Admission to celebrate this event is FREE, but places are strictly limited.
