International Volunteer Day 2011 - 5th December 2011

The DVA would like to wish everyone a very happy International Volunteer Day 2011!

IVD offers the opportunity for volunteer organisations and individual volunteers to make visible their contributions at local, national and international level - to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

This year we have been busy organising activities to celebrate IVD 2011. On the 31st October we held a conference ‘Creating a Robust Volunteer Framework for the management of Volunteers and Interns’, in order for organisations to understand the potential of volunteering and how to recruit and manage volunteers.

To celebrate further, the DVA is running  a DVA - IVD 2011 Photo Competition. Members have been asked to send in photos which best depict the power of volunteerism within their organisations.

The winner will receive £50 worth of Amazon vouchers and the winning photo will feature on the front page of the DVA's Annual Report!

Last but not least, as this year’s UNIVD theme is ‘’light up our world’’, the DVA has participated in lighting a  candle to mark International Volunteer Day 2011! Photos will be uploaded shortly.
