DVA Learning Event on Effective Governance 16th December, 2011

Dear All,

On the 16th December 2011 we are running a Learning Event on Effective Governance. We all know that effective governance is key to the success of any voluntary organisation, but governance itself can be a minefield. This learning event is designed to provide participants with an overview of good practice in governance. By having strong effective governance within our organisations we place ourselves in a strong position to successfully bid for funds from donor organisations.

We have put together this event as a direct response to your feedback, in our last workshop.

The workshop/training will be highly interactive and by the end of the day participants will:
• Understand the legal requirements and where to get further specialist advice
• Understand the required governing documents
• Have considered the skills needed and the composition of the Board and have devised a skills audit for their organisation
• Have a clear understanding of how to implement effective governance within their organisations.

Prior to the event we would like all participants to complete a pre-attendance questionnaire. We attach this and ask that you please return it to us by the 9th December 2011 at the latest.
