Additional data
IVJ aims to tackle poverty and deprivation in Africa and the Caribbean by recruiting skilled professional volunteers who will assist in the provision of education, training and healthcare projects. The organisation also seeks to develop the capacity and skills of members of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and other disadvantaged groups in such a way that they are better able to participate more fully in society and maximise their contribution towards achieving international development goals.
IVJ recruits volunteers whose skills match the needs of local communities and the non profit organisations which support them. IVJ's first task is to work with local communities and voluntary organisations to help them to develop plans for improving their quality of life. Working together they identifify which roles and responsibilities could be supported by skilled volunteers, whereby volunteers are recruited, whose skills match these needs.
